When I flay a dead body, I make one incision. From this incision on, the skin can be taken from the inner body like an act of undressing. Like pulling off a coat. However, at some areas I have to cut to loosen the skin from the inner body. The points where I have to cut, I call transgression points. At those points the inner- and outer world transgress into each other. These points intrigue me. They form a bipolar boundary, on the border of the inside and outside body, but also on the border of life and death, private and public, beauty and repulsiveness…
Transgression points: eyes, ears, nostrils, lips, fingernails, bellybutton, genitalia, and toenails.
